How To Use oSplit

how to setup, organize, participate, pay (& create a transaction) and distribute a Deal

The guide provides instructions for using oSplit effectively as both an organizer and a participant.
It covers essential steps such as creating an account, initiating and managing deals, making reservations, making payment, printing reservation manifests, picking up reservations, and reviewing deals.

When you join oSplit, you can play two distinct roles: organizer or participant. As an organizer, you can organize Deals for your friends, their friends, and nearby individuals. Alternatively, you can choose to be a participant and join Deals organized by others.

To get started with oSplit, you must first set up your account.
Once your account is established, you gain the ability to both organize and participate in Deals. The lifecycle of a Deal typically follows these steps:

  • The organizer creates the Deal and starts it.
  • One or more participants join the Deal, by making reservations. The Deal becomes active as the minimum requirement is met.
  • The Deal ends successfully, and the participants pay for their own reservations directly to the organizer. Payments may involve cash exchange and creating a Transaction, which requires the organizer's approval to verify the payment.
  • Each reservation is shipped or picked up by each participant.

Below are the actions that organizers and participants can perform. Whether you are an organizer or a participant, it is helpful to know the capabilities of the other role:

Regardless of whether you are an organizer or a participant, you have the option to add your contact information. To do so, go to account_circleaccount_circle Profile → and enter your contact details. Note that this information will only be visible to people who have joined your Deal.
By adding additional contact information, you provide others with an alternative way to reach out to you using the method they may be more familiar and comfortable with.

As an organizer or participant, the platform will send you important notifications throughout the process. To receive these notifications, go to account_circlesettings Preference → click Enable Push Notification on this Device. You can also choose which types of notifications you want to receive, applicable to all your devices.
Enabling browser notifications ensures that you receive timely alerts for any actions that require your attention, such as pending reservations awaiting your approval or transfers that require verification and confirmation.

In settings Preference, you can also specify your location, including your city and precise locations.
As an organizer, the city you specify will serve as the default city for the Deal. For Deals that are exclusively available to nearby individuals, you have the option to choose your precise locations.
As a participant, the city you set will be used when browsing through tungsten Inspirationlocation_city City; while the precise locations will be used when browsing through follow_the_signs Participatenear_me Nearby.

Before you can organize a Deal, you need to set up a Credit Limit for your friends, friends of friends, and non-friend participants. To do this, click on account_circlesettings Preference.
The selected currency will be used as the currency for the Credit Limit and as the default currency for any new Deals you create.
You can set up a specific Credit Limit for individual friends by going to people Friends → selecting a friend → and setting his/her Credit Limit.
more on Credit Limit

If you are planning to create a Deal exclusively for a specific group, you can assign the friend to a particular group. To do this, go to people Friends → select a Friend →, and check Group 1, 2, and/or 3.
more on Group

Rather than informing your participants individually each time, you can specify your preferred payment method by going to account_circleaccount_circle Profile →, and filling in the Payment Info. This information will be displayed when participants create new transactions for you.

As an organizer, you have three ways to create a Deal:
Since only your friends, friends of friends, or people nearby can join the Deal, it would be beneficial to share your Deal on social media platforms by clicking the Share button.

Note to Potential Participant and to Participant.
oSplit differs from other e-commerce platforms in that it doesn't make assumptions about how you prefer to deliver goods. You have the flexibility to choose various delivery options, such as using a regular delivery service, utilizing your own delivery service (for heavy items, fresh food, or live animals), or arranging for pickup at a specific location to avoid delivery fees.
In some cases, delivery may not be necessary. For instance, there are situations where sharing occurs without any physical items to be delivered, such as taking turns or sharing a property. Furthermore, virtual goods do not incur delivery fees, and when purchasing a service, there is nothing to be physically delivered. oSplit accommodates these diverse scenarios. If you offer the option to ship items, you can add an online shipping calculator to provide an estimate of the shipping costs to the participant's location.
In the absence of a mandatory delivery option, it is essential to include a Note to Potential Participants or a Note to Participants section. This allows you to provide instructions to the participants on how to obtain the item. If you prefer not to publicly disclose your pickup location, you can provide a general location in the Note to Potential Participant and specify the exact location in the Note to Participant.

As an organizer, you can list all the Deals you have created by going to call_split Organizeplay_arrow Active, emoji_events Successful, mood_bad Unsuccessful, edit Draft, etc.

To view a Deal as a participant, click on the Deal image. To edit the Deal as an organizer, click on the Deal's name.

Draft Deals are not yet started, and you can modify them as you see fit. No one can reserve a Draft Deal except for you, the organizer. To start the Deal, edit it as the organizer and click → play_arrow Start.
As the organizer, you have the privilege of making reservations before the deal starts, giving you the opportunity to secure your desired items or slots in advance.
Starting a Deal incurs a fee, and if you do not have enough Balance or Credit Limit, the Deal will not start. Once the payment is made and verified, your Deal will automatically start.

Even if your Deal is unique, you can find helpful advice by exploring the tungsten Inspirationapproval Template and viewing similar Deals. The Template offers some advices that you might find useful.
It is also important to set the correct categories for your Deal, as it makes it easier for others to find. Based on the categories, at the bottom of the Deal, you will find advice pages that both you and potential participants can consider.
Before starting the Deal as an organizer, ensure that all the details are correct. Once your Deal has participants, you will not be able to change many aspects of it, especially the Deal name, description, trigger, deposit, currency, item name, description, price, or tier price.
To correct a typo, use the Corrections field to reflect the necessary changes to allow participants to easily identify and understand the modifications made.
If a change would fundamentally alter the Deal, it is better to cancel and recreate it instead of changing it.

Once your friend or someone nearby starts a Deal, you will receive a notification.
To conveniently access all the Deals you have been notified about but haven't viewed yet, simply navigate to follow_the_signs Participatevisibility_off Unseen.
As a participant, you have the freedom to explore and join other Deals. To join a particular Deal, navigate to the hail Reservations tab. If you don't see the tab, it indicates that you are not included in the list of potential participants for that Deal.

Note: If you believe a Deal violates the guidelines, you can report it by clicking on the Deal and selecting the → report Report button.
more on Prohibited Items

As a potential participant, you can ask questions before making a reservation by accessing Deal → forum Discussion.
To reserve items in a Deal, go to the Deal and click on hail Reservations tab.

Reserving items does not guarantee that you will receive them. It is possible that you may receive only a portion of the desired quantity for each item you reserve.

As an organizer, you will receive notifications when potential participants ask questions in the forumDiscussion section of the Deal. Only potential participants can see and participate in the Deal's Discussion.

Additionally, you will be notified when someone reserves your Deal.

If you have chosen to pre-approve the participants, you will receive a notification indicating whether a reservation requires approval or not.
To manage reservations for a Deal, access the Deal in edit mode and navigate to the hail Reservations tab. From there, you can approve or partially cancel reservations as needed.
more on Approval

There is no option to reject reservations directly. Instead, you can use the marker feature to mark reservations that you have rejected. This marking doesn't have any inherent effect but allows you to keep track of reservations.
Alternatively, you can use the marker to indicate participants or reservations that you are most interested in. When there are no better options available, you can accept the reservations.
This approach avoids unnecessarily offending participants and provides flexibility if needed.

As a participant, you will receive notifications when your reservation is manually approved or (partially) cancelled.
If an allocated reservation is cancelled, your Balance will be increased accordingly.

Notifications will also be sent when your reservation is moved to the Allocated status or back to In-Queue.
When a reservation is Allocated, your Balance with the organizer will be reduced. Similarly, when an allocated reservation is moved back to In-Queue, your Balance will be increased.

To ensure your reservations can be allocated to you, it is important to have sufficient funds in your Collab Wallet.

Unless specifically requested by the organizer, it is not recommended to make a payment if you have enough Balance and Credit Limit with the organizer to cover the items.
This recommendation is based on the possibility of the Deal ending unsuccessfully. In such cases, to avoid manually refunding the balance, it is more convenient to use the Credit Limit for smaller transactions.
more on Credit Limit

If you do not have enough Balance and Credit Limit, you will need to make a payment by handing cash or transferring funds to the organizer's bank account. After making payment, create paid Payment Transaction. To do so, visit the organizer's profile → credit_card New Transactionpaid Payment Transaction.

Note: Payments cannot be made for a specific reservation or a specific Deal. Similar to repaying a credit card, the payment will be applied to the balance rather than specific items.
Each transaction needs to be manually verified by the receiver before it is added to the Balance. You will receive a notification once the transaction is verified. To view all transactions that have not been accepted, go to people Friendscredit_card Transactionsdo_not_disturb_on Not Accepted.

If someone sends you a Transaction, you will receive a notification. After verifying the transfer, you can choose to approve or reject the Transaction.
If someone accepts your Transaction, you will be notified, and your Balance with that person will increase.

To review transactions that require your response, visit people Friendscredit_card Transactionslive_help You haven't Responded, or go to people Friends → Transactions → credit_card All.
more on Transaction
Accepting a Transaction will increase the balance the person has with you. If you are an organizer and the payer has reservations, the balance can be used to pay for those reservations.

As an organizer, you can adjust the default Credit Limit for your friends, friends of friends, and non-friend participants to avoid the need for frequent money transfers for small transactions.

As a participant, you can review all your reservations by going to hailReservationscall_split Group by Deal or people Group by Person.
From there, you can review, cancel, or modify your reservations. If you cancel a reservation, you will receive a refund in the form of Collab Wallet Balance. Similarly, if you add more reservations and they are allocated to you, your Balance will be reduced accordingly.
Cancelling allocated reservations that affect the Deal's Tier Price will automatically reflect in your Reputation.
more on Reputation

As an organizer, you will receive notifications when a participant cancels, and if the cancellations affect the Tier Price or availability of the Deal.
Ending successful Deal early will not have a negative impact on your Reputation, but canceling a Deal will have a negative impact on your Reputation.

Once your Deal reaches its specified Participation Deadline, you will be notified.

If the Deal ends successfully, only the reservations made by participants will be used to calculate the Deal fee. If the Deal hasn't reached its maximum potential, a partial refund may be issued.
If the Deal ends unsuccessfully, either due to cancellation or other reasons, the entire fee will be refunded as a Balance.

As a participant, you will receive notifications when the Deal ends, either according to the specified time or if the organizer ends it.
If you have any outstanding Balance to settle, you can do so at this time using cash or a bank transfer. Similar to before, create a Transaction and have it accepted by the organizer.

If the Tier Price has been achieved, you may receive a partial refund on your reservations.

Additionally, if the Deal required a deposit, you will be charged the remaining amount when the Deal ends.

For successful Deals that you organize, you can now purchase the Deal and distribute them among the participants.
The platform will guide you on what and how much to buy.
The platform also offers support for efficient item distribution, particularly for larger quantities. These features are optional, and you can choose to use them based on your preferences.

Print Reservation Manifest.
To print unique codes for each participant's items, along with his name and quantities, you can go to the Deal → people Participantspicture_as_pdf PDF button. The resulting label can be cut and attached to each participant's item.
If you require further customization, you can download the CSV file and modify it as needed.
For larger groups of participants, it is highly recommended to sort the items before distribution. This will help avoid any mistakes and streamline the process.

When you are ready to distribute the items, go to the Deal in edit mode and → local_shipping Distributing.
If you haven't done so already, you will receive a reminder as the distribution date approaches.

Pickup Screen.
When the organizer is ready to distribute, participants will be notified. You, as a participant, should go to the location specified in the Note to Participant (if you should pick up the item).
A pickup screen will display your pickup code, name, outstanding debt, and the list of items allocated to you. You can find the pickup screen by accessing the Deal → hail Reservationsqr_code Pick button.
It is important not to scan the QR code if the items are not ready yet.

Scan and Distribute.
Once the items are ready for pickup, you can use the provided QR scanner to scan your pickup code.
Although you can use any QR Scanner, The platform's qr_code_scanner QR Scanner is recommended as it verifies that the pickup code is from oSplit's website.
After you have picked up your items, the organizer can mark them as received on your behalf.

Note: If you still have a balance to settle, the pick-up time is also an good time to settle any outstanding payments.
While oSplit provides a lot of support for pickup delivery, organizers have the flexibility to offer shipping options if desired.
It is important to settle any outstanding balances, including shipping fees, before initiating the shipping process.

As an organizer or a participant, you have the opportunity to rate your experience with the Deal. By accessing the Deal → rate_review Review, you can provide feedback.

In case of any issues, it is recommended to communicate with the other party before leaving a negative review. In contrast to typical e-commerce platforms, it is highly probable that the individual you are reviewing on oSplit is either your friend, a friend of your friend, or someone who resides nearby. In the event of an issue or concern, it is strongly encouraged to initiate a conversation with the other party before resorting to leaving a negative review.

In addition to its use for Deals, oSplit can also be utilized for tracking balances between friends, even without participating in a Deal.

For example, you can track debts when sharing expenses, meals, or other transactions with friends.
By using the QR scanner in the home Homeqr_code_scanner QR Scanner your QR Code (go to home HomeScan this to add a Transaction).
Your friend can then specify the owed amount and click hail I Owe button. This will record the debt, and you will receive a notification indicating the increased balance. If the debt remains unpaid after a few days, your friend will receive a reminder to make the payment.
