Background
Our journey began when we discovered great deals on products that required bulk purchases. While typical group buy platforms provided solutions, they often lacked specific or city-specific items. We also attempted our own version of group buying by purchasing items in bulk and selling them individually. Although it had its challenges, it ultimately turned out well.Keeping track of who wanted what, who changed their orders, who had already paid, or who hadn't picked up their items proved to be quite challenging. We also faced issues such as people expressing interest but not following through with pick-up and payment. During a summer vacation, we managed to obtain heavily discounted Disney tickets but had to endure a timeshare presentation. Luckily, we resisted the temptation to purchase one. We realized that if we had found like-minded individuals to jointly buy a vacation house, the prices would have been much more reasonable. Additionally, managing the property ourselves would have incurred lower maintenance fees.
However, finding suitable co-owners was difficult, especially if we limited our choices to people we knew or who were known to our friends. It was equally challenging to keep track of the booked weeks to avoid overlapping vacations. Realizing that many others encountered similar obstacles, we set out to create oSplit.
